Certified Machinery & Equipment Appraiser (CMEA)

The Certified Machinery & Equipment Appraiser (CMEA) designation is awarded through the NEBB Institute. It is one credential used by machinery and equipment appraisal professionals.

Requirements for CMEA designation

• Completion of the provider's required education and assessment
• Training in machinery and equipment valuation methods
• Ongoing compliance with the credential provider's current requirements

When you need a CMEA

• Financing: A lender may require an independent appraisal; the credential and report standard depend on the lender, transaction and jurisdiction.
• Estate and tax purposes: IRS Form 8283 (non-cash charitable donations) requires a "qualified appraisal" by a "qualified appraiser."
• Litigation: Expert witness testimony on equipment value requires formal credentialing.
• Insurance: Agreed-value or replacement-cost insurance policies often require a certified appraisal.

AI valuation vs. CMEA appraisal

EasiMachines' price estimate shows prices of comparable machines for price discovery and listing decisions; it is not an appraisal and gives no value for those uses. For lending, legal, insurance or tax use, confirm the required report standard and appraiser qualification with the relevant institution or adviser.
